This is a sweet short story that shows us how Lara is slowly healing from the battle against Maridrina, while also trying to show Ithicana's people that she can be worthy of them.
It does not add any new pieces to the plot of the 3 previous books, but it was nice to see a little more of Aren and Lara (and also more spice), and I am already excited for the 4th book to be released!

It's advised to read this AFTER the inadequate heir, but I read it before and didn't feel like it spoiled too much. Also all those changes to their relationship (😉) I love!!! I honestly wish we got more from their update but I'm sure we'll see more of them in the next book as well.

Immediately after I finished the Traiter Queen I always wanted an epilogue or just a little bit more information on what happens to Lara and Aren, this was a great conclusion and a sneak peek into their lives after the last book. I did expect this one to be a lot more steamy because of the promotion and what they kept referring to it as but it was definitely not as steamy as it was described. That being said it was still good and a very quick read.

•Lara holding her breath to play dead to mess with Aren was probably my favorite part of the short story, idk why but this made me laugh
•Nana busting in on Lara + Aren also cracked me up
•I was devastated when Nana made it seem like the shark myth wasn't true and they only avoided her because she had stimulants in her system, so I was very happy with the ending
•This was not super spicy as I feel we were led to believe, but when the spice happened it was good. ("I think I'll keep them")
•I highlighted a bunch in this short story, so that's always a good indicator I enjoyed a read.

Although I found Arens blind over the top devotion to Lara a little ...well ...over the top. After what she did? He needs to give his council some slack!
BUT I love this world and any story from it is very welcome for me. I cannot wait for the sequel to Inadequate heir and I really can't wait to hear Arens sisters story !!

This is 6 chapters bonus content that happens after Traitor Queen and Inadequate Heir. If you stan Aren and Lara, you will indulge in this, but don't expect a fully fleshed out plot. It's a bonus with spice to make the fans happy, nothing more, nothing less.

Its not new that I am obsessed with bridge kingdom! I was completely in love and obsessed with Aren and Lara's story back in 2020 (my first time reading the duology) and it's not new that the bridge kingdom and the traitor queen had become my favorite duology!
Buuut as much as I loved the traitor queen the end felt a little rushed for me. We have the climax scenes, the resolution of the conflict and end. We didn't saw the big forgiveness, we didn't saw the after match of Lara's treason a

We didn't even had a time alone for them. The book just ended and it felt… incomplete for me (and for a lot other readers)
This is a short story ( 6 chapters only) and it starts exactly where the traitor queen ends. We are finally able to see the after match, the version of Lara and Aren after the war, treason and disappointments and I'm so happy we saw it! They are damaged but they love each other so much, they are each other lives and they are going to fight for it, principally Aren who is willing to give up his throne and role as king if Ithacana decides to exile Lara again. He is 100% read to fight and do anything for her.
Lara is dealing with her guilt. She almost died trying to save her country but it's people still see her as the traitor queen. She is trying to deal with the fact that all she ever knew was a lie, all her truths were in fact lies and dealing with the heavy weigh of her treason towards Itachana and principally Aren. She loves both so much but she is not feeling good. But our girl and her man are both fighters and we see both of them claiming their place as rulers and as a couple and I looooved that. I loved that now there is no secrets, they bared their souls and are connected than ever. I loved to see how fierce Lara still is, fighting for what it belongs to her and how Aren is so in love with her that he would do literally anything for her. Their hearts, souls and bodies are finally in synchrony and I'm even more in love with than.
And anxious to start the inadequated heir! Kerris seems soooo intriguing 👀
